LAUREN BOOHER
3rd, 4th & 5th
Lauren is an advocate for authentic experiential learning at ALL age levels. She is passionate about outdoor programming, STEM engagement, and process-based art opportunities.
Lauren has a BA in Classical Literature and Philosophy, and will happily discuss Homer and Aristotle all day long. In fact, as a teacher, she takes daily inspiration from this quote from Plato’s Theaetetus: “Wonder is the feeling of a philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder.” Lauren looks for opportunities to engage students’ innate sense of wonder and curiosity, so that they can make meaningful inquiries to broaden their knowledge of how the world works.
Before joining OCS, Lauren worked at The Gillispie School, Canyon Rim Children’s Center, and the French Montessori Preschool in San Diego, and also privately led a series of outdoor adventure playgroups for mixed-age learners. Originally from San Diego, Lauren absolutely adores the green beauty and laid-back lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. She loves to read, make art projects with her two kids, and spend time on the beautiful nature trails of Olympia with her dogs.
