Occasional Lunch Monitor Shift
Kids Club
Kids Club plays an important role in our school’s community by providing activities and supervised play for students before and after the school day with extended hours on school half days. As a team, staff are responsible for independently planning, preparing, and implementing a suitable program of imaginative and innovative activities suitable to the needs and interests of children ages 4-10 and in alignment with Olympia Community School philosophies.

AM Kids Club goes from 7:30-9:00. PM Kids Club goes from 3:00-5:45- or until the last child is picked up.

Extended hours on school half days and during conference weeks in October & March.

Lunch Monitor
Occasionally, we will need help with lunch monitor duties.
Lunch Monitor duties include supervising students during lunch and on the playground, helping students prepare themselves for lunch, and assisting during the lunch hour, as needed.
Positions report to the OCS Staff Coordinator.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of child development.
-
Experience working with children ages 4-10.
-
AA, BA, or working toward a degree, in early childhood education, social sciences, or other related field,
-
OR a combination of related education and experience.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
-
Interest in becoming part of an alternative education program and community.

Willingness to become familiar with and champion Olympia Community School philosophies.

First Aid/CPR Certified (by hire date or training will be provided).

Ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of multi-aged students.

Ability to plan and facilitate safe, creative and energetic play.
-
Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents and children.
-
Self-motivated and energetic.
-
Willingness to provide outdoor time regardless of weather.

Reliable and responsible.
-
Familiarity with non-violent communication strategies.
Details- Compensation and Hours:
-
Hourly between $16 - $18 hr. D.O.E. (no additional benefits.)

We are looking to fill roughly 15 hours/week: Monday-Friday 2:45 - 5:45 pm. *The shift duration may vary depending on when the last child is picked up.

Additional day shifts may be available in the event other staff members are unavailable for their shifts.

Sick leave accrual, per state law.
